Research project
Title
Art as value: processes of legitimation and institutionalization of the work of art
Area of Inquiry and Research
Art and Reception
Description
This project investigates the agents that make up the contemporary artistic system, as well as the instances of viability, circulation, insertion and commercialization of works of art. Artists, museums, art galleries, publications, universities and art schools, as well as critics and curators make up a complex system in which exhibitions, public and private collections and residency programs create complementary networks that act in the legitimation and institutionalization of works and artistic processes. In recent years, the project has been focusing on both feminist theories and approaches, investigating the work of female artists, critics, curators and managers.
