The Graduate Program in Art History (PPGHA) at the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ) announces the opening of applications for the Master's and Doctoral selection processes, with classes scheduled to begin in the second semester of 20251.

• Master's degree:

  • Twelve places are offered for the Academic Master's course.

  • The selection process includes an evaluation of the candidate's Lattes curriculum and dissertation proposal, a written exam, an oral defense of the dissertation proposal, and a foreign language proficiency exam.

  • Proof of proficiency in a foreign language is essential.

  • The target audience consists of graduates with bachelor's degrees and master's degrees in Art History, Arts, and related fields.

• Doctorate:

  • Eight places are offered for the Academic Doctorate course.

  • The selection process includes an evaluation of the candidate's Lattes curriculum and thesis proposal, an oral defense of the proposal, and a foreign language proficiency exam.

  • Proof of proficiency in two foreign languages is essential.

  • The target audience consists of individuals holding a Master's degree in related fields.

• Important Information for Both Levels:

  • Applications for both levels (Master's and Doctorate) will be accepted from March 3, 2025 to April 7, 2025.

  • 30% of the positions are reserved for quota candidates, in accordance with state laws.

  • Candidates who qualify under the quota system are exempt from the registration fee.

  • All candidates will undergo a single selection process.

  • The required documentation for both levels includes an application form, proof of payment of the application fee (except for quota applicants), copies of personal documents, diplomas, academic transcript, Lattes curriculum vitae, and research proposal.

  • Registration implies knowledge and acceptance of the rules established in the announcements.

  • Candidates who feel they have been unfairly treated at any stage of the selection process may appeal, in accordance with the deadlines established in the notices.
